. . .

At the heart of Project Manager Dovydas Vaitkus’s success lies a powerful combination of professionalism, honest communication, and an unwavering desire for continuous improvement.

Meet Dovydas Vaitkus – project manager at Zenko International, who joined the company at the beginning of 2022.

Can you tell us more about the responsibilities and challenges you face in your position?

Certainly! As a Project Manager at Zenko International, my primary responsibility is to oversee the shipbuilding interior installation projects from start to finish. It includes coordinating with clients and shipyard managers, understanding their requirements, and ensuring our delivery on time and within budget.

One of the main challenges I face in this role is coordinating the different aspects of the project, such as material procurement, scheduling, and quality control, which requires careful planning and organization. It’s essential to anticipate potential issues and address them proactively to keep the project on track.

How do you ensure effective communication with both clients and internal teams?

To ensure effective communication with clients, I make sure to establish clear channels of communication right from the beginning. This includes regular meetings, both in person and virtual, where we discuss project updates, and milestones, and address any concerns or changes in requirements. When it comes to internal teams, I believe in fostering a collaborative and transparent environment. I encourage regular meetings where team members can share updates, discuss challenges, and collaborate on solutions. I prioritize respectful communication and honesty. I believe in fostering a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and heard. I’m always available to provide support and guidance whenever needed and address any concerns raised by the team.

How does your previous experience as an IT engineer and sales manager prepared you for your current role?

My background as an IT engineer provided me with a strong foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking. Working as a sales manager allowed me to develop excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Building relationships with clients and understanding their needs were key aspects. These skills have translated well into my current position, as I often interact with clients and collaborate with them to ensure their vision is implemented in the final product.

What is you favourite shipyard and what type of project do you prefer the most?

Every single shipyard is different and unique. I have never had the favourite one 🙂

I find value in all types of projects. However, I must admit that working on public areas holds a special appeal to me. It’s incredibly fulfilling to contribute to creating an enjoyable environment for passengers. Seeing people appreciate and enjoy the spaces we’ve crafted is truly rewarding.

Dovydas, could you please let us know how you spend your free time?

During my free time at the project, I spend as much time alone as possible. Given the nature of my job and the constant interactions during working hours, I understand the importance of quality relaxation time to recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

When I’m at home, my family always comes first! Raising my two boys is my primary duty in life, and I am devoted to giving them the best I can. It involves engaging in various activities together, from traveling and exploring new places to enjoying sports and other shared interests.

How would you describe Zenko International in three insightful words?

I would say: Innovative, Collaborative, and Quality-driven.

Thank you, Dovydas! We appreciate you opening up and sharing your experiences with us.
